Working on my Novel

I didn't write here or on my novel yesterday. Sundays are family days and hard to get any peace indoors. I long for that wonderful place the writers retreat even a shed down the garden. I did find on eBay a stripped out and relined caravan  it would certainly beat a garden shed so watching that.

This morning at Open mike on book island in Second Life a hot little Chicky (name withheld)  put her current book into the mix and had chapter 2 read out for us, I think she was to nervous to read it her self. She claimed her writing was poor. We all agreed we were never going to believe her again the story was rich and detailed and I found empathy almost at once with her main character, which is a very good stat of affairs as it makes you care what happens to the character.

Today I re-wrote the start of my first novel. Its moved so far from what the first concept was the start just didn't fit anymore and while I am told you don't rewrite until you finish the complete rough draft it was just to far off what the story had become and contradicted the main story in several ways.

So deleted 53 words and added 781 and everything fits now and its still a first draft but is coherent now.

Why we should all listen to others

We've all heard it said! Keep a pen and paper by the bed or even carry one around with you, so if you get an idea you can put it down.

Yesterday when I started this blog one of the ideas was if I didn't write any story on a particular day I would write something in my blog instead.

The reasoning behind that is simple, I keep finding excuses not to write, too tired, too busy, cant decide what to write and as novice writer I find I do need to spend some time reading on the subject, so the blog should be easier but will make sure I do write something.

So anyway that means I need to think of what I will write in here and last night as I went to bed I had 2 great ideas and thought I would remember them easy when I woke. When I woke it was from a dream which would make a great idea for a story so I sat down and wrote 484 words to start the story on the way. I was really pleased and thought I have no need to write my blog today. Ah what were those 2 ideas I had last night?

Of course those ideas have completely gone, Maybe an alternate me in parallel universe is even now penning those ideas.

Starting the pen rolling

The weekly Second Life meeting on Book Island for aspiring Authors

I have got up at 5.0 am for this meeting several times now and its worth the getting up the discussions are really inspiring last week I got the inspiration from a working title one of the guys read out for a extract from the new novel for me to write a short story its was all mapped out as he said the title and I thought about the scene. Made notes drew up a synopsis and just need to get a start think I will use that for one of the many short story competitions that are about when I get a few days spare.

This week one of the girls brought up that she is writing a novel in Twitter one post at a time per day. I didn't get the link on that and have to chase that up, but she read a little and was very good
